Ever feel like 24 hours in a day is not enough? As a college student, time often feels so tight. Morning to evening lectures, evening to night organization meetings, not to mention the piling up of assignments, plus part-time work. In the midst of all this, studying sometimes becomes the last resort. In fact, with the right strategy, you can still study effectively without having to sacrifice other activities. In the midst of this busyness, finding time to study effectively is certainly a challenge in itself. Here are some strategies that can help you maximize your study time and stay productive despite your busy schedule.

1. Set Up Study Schedule

Make a realistic study schedule by considering your daily activities. Separate between activities that are very important and cannot be postponed, and activities that are important but can be postponed. You can also use the time blocking technique, where you allocate a specific time only for studying without distractions. Also make sure this schedule is flexible so you can adjust if there are sudden changes. Focus on tasks that have a big impact on your grades or understanding. Don't waste too much time on less important material.

2. Apply Fast and Effective Study Techniques

You can try some of the following methods:

  • Pomodoro Technique: Study for 25-30 minutes, then take a 5-minute break. Repeat several times until finished.
  • Active Recall: Instead of reading repeatedly, try to recall information without looking at notes.
  • Spaced Repetition: Repeating material at intervals to make it easier to remember

3. Avoid Proscrastination

Procrastination is a major enemy of productivity. To overcome it, you can start with small tasks to build momentum. In addition, you can also use the 5-Minute Rule technique: Force yourself to start studying for 5 minutes, usually you will continue without realizing it. And try to reduce distractions by turning off notifications or using social media site blocker apps.

4. Utilize Technology to Study More Effectively

There are many apps that can help you study more effectively, such as Notion or Evernote to take neat notes. Anki or Quizlet to make flashcards and memorization easier. Forest or Focus Booster to help you stay focused while studying.

As a busy student, studying effectively doesn't have to mean sacrificing breaks or other activities. With the right strategy, you can still understand the material without staying up late or feeling exhausted. Apply the tips above and feel the changes in your study productivity!
