Being a student is not just about attending class, listening to lectures, doing presentations and doing assignments. Many are also active in other organizations, community committees, even part time or freelance. In the midst of all these activities, it is not uncommon to appear overwhelmed, it feels like 24 hours is not enough deh. So what do you do to stay productive, without disrupting academics, so that everything can run according to its portion. Here are some practical tips to keep all your activities under control!

1. Recognize Your Rythms and Prioritize

The first thing you can and should do is to first understand your learning style and when you are most productive? Is it morning, afternoon, evening or night. Well, starting from there, then you can:

  • Determine the most effective study or assignment time
  • Choose organizational activities that suit your free time
  • Avoid the accumulation of activities during peak hours

Take note, you can use the principle of "urgent vs important" to sort out your daily priorities.

2. Make a Daily Planner

After determining the rhythm, then you can record all your class schedules, assignment deadlines, and your academic agenda in one place. It can be in a daily planner book, calendar or with the help of applications such as Google Calendar, Notion, Trello, Todoist, and many other applications that you can download on Playstore or Applestore. From the application you just need to take advantage of the existing features, such as:

  • Deadline reminders or alarms
  • Color labels to distinguish types of activities
  • Daily checklist to maintain consistency

That way, you will more easily avoid the name “forgetting tasks” or “clashing schedules.”

3. Set Aside Special Time to Focus

To work on an activity you can also try methods such as time blocking, which is setting a special time for only one type of activity. So in the time span that you set you will only focus on doing one activity. For example:

  • 08.00-10.00: Study and review lecture material
  • 13.00-14.00: Organization meeting
  • At 20.00-21.00: Do coursework

With time blocking, you avoid excessive multitasking that often makes you tired but the results are not optimal.

4. Don't be Afraid to Say "No"

As a student, to be honest, you often get invitations to impromptu meetings, or hang out without a clear purpose. Of course, you can do that, but you must know your capacity. Don't hesitate to refuse if the activity interferes with your study time or drains your energy excessively. Remember, maintaining quality is more important than just looking busy.

5. Take a Time to Rest and Me Time

Being productive is not an excuse to neglect your physical and mental health. Make sure you have time for:

  • Get enough sleep (ideally 6-8 hours)
  • Do hobbies or fun activities
  • Hang out with friends or family

A balanced life will make you more resilient in the face of a busy schedule.

Managing your time while studying, doing assignments, and being active in organizations is not easy, but it is possible with the right planning. The key is self-awareness, time management skills, and the ability to prioritize. So, from now on, let's rearrange your daily agenda so that lectures run smoothly, assignments are done, and organizations keep running!
